Trans Swimmer Dominates Field To Become Female NCAA National Champion

“…the rules are not correct. But right now, the rules are what they are,” said Martina Navratilova, widely considered one of the greatest female tennis players in history, after UPenn transgender swimmer Lia Thomas won the 500-free event at the NCAA Women’s Championships on Thursday. Navratilova offered a suggestion:

“Maybe put an asterisk there.”

Thomas crushed the other biological women in the race by 1.75 seconds (the same time distance that covered the next 3 biologically female swimmers)…

While Activist-Twitter celebrated his/her victory, most in the real world continue to scratch their chins, furrow their brows, and stay relatively silent as this total decoupling from reality continues.

Interestingly, as the following clip shows, no one clapped when Thomas won the prelims on Thursday morning…

As a reminder, sixteen of Thomas’ teammates wrote a letter claiming that “Biologically, Lia holds an unfair advantage over competition in the women’s category, as evidenced by her rankings that have bounced from #462 as a male to #1 as a female.“

One proud father – whose daughter won the Pac12 50 Free and is now competing at the NCAA finals against Thomas – was brave enough to speak up and his tweet went viral…

After over 70,000 likes (Delgado has just under 2,000 followers), he offered a short thread of his reasoned thoughts on the situation:

We need to understand that this is NOT Lia’s fault. She is playing within the rules that have been set. If anything, this is the fault of those who failed to act when given the opportunity.

Fault those that out of fear of being cancelled or labeled transphobic, were not willing to do the right thing and admit that they were wrong & that much more has to go into this before people like Lia can complete fairly.

This will be more hurtful when they go back and have to erase Lia’s accomplishments because of public outcry, loss of revenue, loss of sponsors, and potentially, the loss of women’s sports.

What happens when this reaches the international scene & sporting events like the Olympic Games come into play? Then what?

This is NOT Lia’s fault & standing up for the integrity of women’s sports does not make one transphobic. I just wish those that have power know that.

As the father of two daughters, one of which was a competitive swimmer, it is hard to fathom the frustration.

Circling back to the beginning, Martina Navratilova had a suggestion for a solution to this farce:

“…in the future maybe there should be an open category for everyone, and then for biological females,” she said.

“So trans women can compete, but they’ll compete against men. And trans men have a choice.“

We look forward to hearing from the IOC (but we are not holding our breath).
