The Ghost in the Machine is Real. And it’s Awake

A recent analysis of the fashion industry revealed that major designers are investing increasingly heavily in Artificial Intelligence. One popular designer named Iris van Herpen used AI to not only design her most recent line of offerings but to promote her clothes by having an AI system create a video of the garments being worn by beautiful models. (You can watch the short video here.) I’m no fashion expert, but some of the designs looked simply bizarre. Others actually were very impressive. The analysis concluded that AI is poised to “radically disrupt” the fashion industry landscape. Some of those changes will be seen in the styles of clothing being offered or the way the garments are fabricated. However, perhaps the biggest “disruption” will be seen in the fact that a lot of people will be losing their jobs. That includes the people who model the clothing. The women in the video I linked above are all entirely fake.
