WSJ Doubles Down On Musk-Brin Scoop As Speculation Flies Over ‘Staged’ Photo

The Wall Street Journal is standing its ground after Elon Musk refuted a report that he banged Sergey Brin’s wife, which led to the Google co-founder’s decision to divorce her, and that Musk and Brin are on the outs.

Musk denied the whole thing, and shared a photo of himself and Brin at a party – which many have speculated the billionaire Tesla CEO scrambled to take knowing that the WSJ report was about to hit.

Musk shared the photo and said ‘______, ______ your (pants) are on (fire)’ in response to the Journal‘s Investigations Editor Michael Siconolfi.

Musk’s photo shows him standing with Sergey and two other women. It’s unclear where exactly it was taken – Musk was last seen in Mykonos last week – but his jet flew from Austin, where he lives, to San Jose on Saturday. It flew back to Austin last night, landing at 11pm last night. -Daily Mail

The Journal, however, told the Daily Mail: “We are confident in our sourcing, and we stand by our reporting,” – which reads:

Mr. Brin filed for divorce from Nicole Shanahan in January of this year, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to records filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. The divorce filing was made several weeks after Mr. Brin learned of the brief affair, those people said.

At the time of the alleged liaison in early December, Mr. Brin and his wife were separated but still living together, according to a person close to Ms. Shanahan. In the divorce filing, Mr. Brin cited Dec. 15, 2021, as the date of the couple’s separation. -WSJ

In response, Musk posted on Twitter that the WSJ, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s New Corp – had been launching ‘hit pieces’ against him all year.

“WSJ should be running stories that actually matter to their readers and have solid factual basis, not third-party random hearsay,” said Musk. “The character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans.”
